15 Things to Do on the Costa Dorada

Discover the Costa Dorada

Sun and beach, beach and sun... The best theme park in Europe (Port Aventura)... Yes!! We are world-famous for that, but... is that all we have on the wonderful Costa Dorada? Rest assured it is not.

Here we tell you what neither TripAdvisor nor Minube tells you about the delights of the area — Hospitalet, Cambrils, Salou and Tarragona... We list them in no particular order because they are all great options for discovering magical corners of the Costa Dorada.

Pay attention:

1. La Barcarola

The sun is about to set, it is 8:30 pm and you fancy a mojito on a beach — LA BARCAROLA is your place!

The only Beach Bar on Capellans beach, a 10-minute walk along the beautiful wooden boardwalk that links Llevant beach with this marvel nestled among the rocks. You will love meeting Jordi, Ramón and Dani!

2. Aventura Tours Salou

You love the water and you have already done a jet ski route with JET SKI TOURS CAMBRILS or JET SKI TOURS SALOU — want to keep getting wet, salt-free? Then a whole morning descending canyons and rivers with AVENTURA TOURS SALOU is for you. The most recommendable activity for a memorable day. €45 per person, wetsuit and helmet provided, and you will get a spectacular souvenir video. From 9 am to 3 pm. Pure fun!

3. La Finezza

If we are talking about the belly and good food, set aside a day to go to LA FINEZZA, an atypically typical Italian where quality and quantity go hand in hand without emptying your wallet. Cosy and delicious, on C/Barcelona in Salou.

4. Punta del Caballo

A romantic one: buy whatever you fancy for an aperitif and head out in the early morning or at sunset to PUNTA DEL CABALLO, on Cape Salou. Inspiring views from the dramatic cliff frequented only by fishermen. A few beers, olives, sunflower seeds and your partner. What more could you want! Bring a towel/blanket to cuddle up comfortably.

5. Ferrari Land & Port Aventura

The tourist trail may be well-worn, but it has to be done. One day calls for Ferrari Land + Port Aventura. The long queues give way to big smiles after riding Shambhala, freaking out on Furius Baco or enjoying the shows in Polynesia and China. At the end of the day, the grand finale at the entrance fountain is well worth seeing.

6. rentaboatsalou.com

For the whole family, friends, couples or just yourself: feel like a boat skipper at the helm of the motorboats of rentaboatsalou.com discovering the beauty of Salou, relaxed, from the sea. One, two or four hours savouring sun and seawater with no boating licence required. The best part? The price.

7. Aquum Spa la Pineda

In the end, what is the point of a holiday? To rest, relax, recover and recharge so you can succeed in your daily life. So grab a 2-for-1 and visit AQUUM SPA LA PINEDA!! For €15/person you will enjoy all the rooms, Turkish bath, hot pools, ice pools, water jets, sauna, coffee/tea, towel, hot stones... 3 hours here and you won't even mind if your car gets towed!

8. Padel

There are 4 of you and you fancy doing some sport — how about PADEL? There are plenty of padel courts to rent for €6/person for 1.5 hours of play. You stretch your legs, compete and have fun. Our favourite complex is in Cambrils and it is called Cub Sports Centre.

9. Kupela

Another one to satisfy the most demanding palates, with a €13.50 set lunch menu at Kupela, possibly the best value-for-money restaurant on the Costa Dorada. They are Basque, so they know how to make things truly delicious and with substance.

10. Cala Waikiki

So many people in Salou. Not a single free spot on the beach!! If you want to spend a day in a cove that will transport you to Formentera, throw sun cream and something to eat and drink in your bag and head to WAIKIKI — for us, the most beautiful beach in the area. It is in Tarragona: you get to Playa Larga and from there walk north along the beach (left as you face the sea). You will reach a forest, walk through it for 10 minutes with its characteristic pine scent, and arrive at a cove whose yellow silt walls are perfect for covering yourself in mud and exfoliating your skin. Why the waters are so crystal clear here is a mystery, like the bohemian atmosphere in the air. Join in!

11. El Torn Nudist Beach

If you prefer heading south, EL TORN NUDIST BEACH in Hospitalet del Infant offers peace and quiet and wide stretches of fine sand where you can roam at ease while getting rid of your bikini/swimsuit tan lines lying in the lovely sun. Hungry and thirsty? Estell will serve you delicious food and cold drinks to satisfy your cravings!

12. Shopping!

OK, OK, beach time, hehe, haha, but my wallet is still jingling and I want to splurge this summer! In that case, the shopping centres in Reus (LA FIRA) and Tarragona (PARC CENTRAL) have plenty of shops where you can burn through your debit card — better than credit! Although JET SKI TOURS recommends investing your money in sensations, not material things!

13. La Ibense

The best ice creams are at LA IBENSE — there are two on Passeig Jaume I.

14. Summer Nights!

Those summer nights are better at TROPICAL SALOU or CITY HALL — have you been to NIKITA yet? There you can move to the beat of great music while you find your summer love!
